When you make changes to the grid, you must save the grid layout either for yourself (with or without being the default layout) or, if you have the appropriate application right, save the layout for your entire company. Grid Layouts are per grid. So every grid that you can see has its own layout structure to it. Only a few grids share a layout.

Layouts follow a hierarchy that loads the layouts in this order:

  1. The original layouts made by Marketplace Software and is the default when no companywide layout and no user default layout is created. With e-manage updates, e-manage may note for your administrator to import these default grid layouts.

  2. Companywide layouts override the Marketplace Software default grid layouts and apply to the grid for every users unless the user has their own default layout set. If you see the company button below in the grid layout drop down list box, then you have the right to save a companywide layout. If you do not see this button and you think you should, see your administrator about granting you the right to save layouts for your entire company. If there is already a company default set for the grid you are in, you will see the name of the grid followed by "(Company Default)".

  3. User default layouts override both the Marketplace Software default layouts and the company wide layouts. Everyone can save their own layouts and make them defaults.

To save a grid layout, you will need to have the grid toolbar showing. Every grid has a round button (either red or green) at the bottom right of the grid. If the button is red, then the toolbar is not showing and clicking it will make the toolbar appear and the button turn green. If the button is green, then the toolbar is showing and clicking it will turn the button red and hide the toolbar.

If there is already a saved layout (meaning there is a name in the drop down list box now exposed) then you will need to wipe out the text completely in the box, then give it a name (anything you want to call the grid, you can enter in the text box) and click either the save button with hand under to save for the entire company, or the purple Disk button to save for yourself only.

When saving a grid layout as a companywide default, click the save button with hand under (no need to select any other item as this will auto save as default for entire company).

When saving for yourself, you can choose to make the layout your default (uses the layout every time you open this particular grid) or not. You can also make your layout public, so other people can use it by checking the "Is Public" checkbox.
