Auto Parts are a powerful feature designed to expedite the process of building Bills of Materials (BOMs) by utilizing predefined templates for frequently used parts. This not only saves you time but also enhances accuracy by automatically calculating quantities.
Effortless Integration: Auto Parts can seamlessly integrate into your workflow, whether you're creating a new option or phase within your BOM directly, or importing data. This guide assumes that you've already configured Auto-Part Templates. If not, please refer to the "Setting Up Auto-Part Templates" section.
Practical Example: In this example, we'll utilize an Auto-Part template created earlier (as explained in the "Setting Up Auto-Part Templates" section) using both the "New Option" method and an import process.
Start by opening a project in the BOM/Estimating/Quoting window, then access the "Choose Auto Part Templates" pop-out panel located at the bottom of the BOM tiled window.
...
Within this grid, each row contains a "+" icon, allowing you to view the parts associated with each template. Check the "Use" column checkbox for the templates you wish to employ when creating a new option or conducting an import from an external source file.
...
Once you've selected the desired templates (you can choose multiple templates to suit your needs), navigate to the "Tools" menu at the top of the BOM tiled window, and then select "New Option."
...
A new option will appear, accompanied by the automatic addition of phases. A blank "Default Phase" with a "Default BOM" will also be available and selected, providing you with the flexibility to populate the BOM using ProjectMatrix or manually adding items from your Master Parts Listing.
By harnessing the power of Auto Parts, you can significantly enhance your BOM creation process, ensuring efficiency and accuracy throughout.
