The New Serviceable Item action menu item creates a serviceable item (an item that you install and then offer a service agreement on, or just want to store the information about an item you installed for service ticket purposes) for the currently open company location.
Press the New Serviceable item action menu item. The new Serviceable Item Window will open.
Store the information about the purchase, warranty, extended warranty (Service Agreement) pricing information, on-site contact information, serial number manufacturer, product type and model. The required fields of this form are denoted with an "*" asterisk. The units text box is basically a quantity that you would like to calculate the unit price off of for use on a service agreement. Service Agreements get their sale price from the sum of all of the serviceable items that it covers. Use the Other Charges text box to add any additional fees, such as a trip charge. This value is not multiplied by the units, but added to the total of the units time the unit price.
Click the save button after the form has been completely filled out, it will be assigned a Service Item # automatically and you can add other contacts associated with the service item.
To add contacts to the Serviceable Item, it will need to be saved and have an ID number (see above). Once saved, you can drag and drop contacts into the contact grid from Search e-manage, Recent Records, Favorites or any other grid that contains contacts. You also can use the "Add Quick Contact" button when on the contacts tab and use the Quick Contact Window to search for existing contacts or add a new one.
By typing in the first and last name text boxes of the Add a Quick Contact window you get a list of existing contacts where you can click and drag from the here to the Service Agreement Contacts grid on the Service Agreements Window.
If you did not initiate this serviceable item from a Service Agreement, you can create a Service Agreement to hold this Serviceable Item by clicking the Create Svc Agreement button right on this form.
We recommend that you create your serviceable items and put them on a service agreement upon completion of installation of the item. If you offer a year of warranty (or your manufacturer does) then you can make the Agreement Start Date the installation date and length for 1 year so you can charge back to your manufacture the entire cost of servicing the item.
