There are (3) methods for adding items to a BOM manually (not importing from an external source)
Method 1 - Right click on a BOM and use one of the Add from menu items
Add From Search - used to add parts to the selected BOM by searching using one or more criteria to find the part and using the Add QTY cell to add the items at the specified QTY.
Add From Parts Catalog - Used to add parts to the selected BOM by using the pre-built Parts Catalog. Navigate through the catalog folders to find the parts you want and use the "Add QTY" cell to add parts to the selected BOM at the specified QTY.
Add From Library - Used to add parts to the selected BOM by using the pre-built library of parts. Navigate through the library folders to find the parts you want and use the "Add QTY" cell to add parts to the selected BOM at the Specified QTY
Add From Favorites - Used to add parts to the selected BOM using a grid of your own personal favorites. Any part can be marked as favorite by checking the "Favorite" checkbox anywhere you see the part. Use the Add QTY cell to add the part(s) you want to the selected BOM.
Method 2 - Click on the BOM and use the Add Parts panel just below the grid with your options and phases.
Enter the QTY you want to add of the item you will be searching for. And press the ENTER key on your keyboard and your cursor will automatically go to the Criteria drop down list box where you can type in any part of the part number then stop typing and a list of matching parts will appear. You must use at least 3 characters to activate the search. Choose the correct part you want to use and press the ENTER key on your keyboard to add the part to your BOM. The focus will return theĀ QTY text box where you can type a new QTY (or not) and search for another part.
You can choose how you find the parts you are looking for by changing the "Choose From" drop down list box from "All Parts" to other items like Library, Catalog and Favorites.
You can choose the type of criteria you would like to use by changing the "Search By" drop down list box.
Method 3 - Add from the Project Spec button
If configured properly when highlighting the BOM the Project Spec button will appear for you to select which will take you straight to the Project Spec catalog for you to select your product and specify finishes. This can be a great tool for Salespeople or other team members to quickly add product to quote a customer without having to go through the Design team.
