Auto Parts are a way to add parts to your BOM automatically by using pre-set templates of parts used over and over. This can greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to put together a bill of materials as there is no searching for parts and automatically calculate their own quantities making it nearly impossible to make a mistake in the quoting process.

Auto parts can be used in conjunction with an import or simply by adding a new option or phase to the BOM directly. This section assumes that you already have Auto-Part Templates configured, if not, please see Setting Up Auto-Part Templates .

In this example we will use the Auto-Part template that was created in the Setting Up Auto-Part Templates section of this manual using both the "New Option" method, and while performing an import.

To begin, open a project to the BOM / Estimating / Quoting window, then click on the "Choose Auto Part Templates" pop-out panel at the bottom of the BOM tiled window.

In this grid you can see that each row has a "+" next to it, where you can see the parts that will be added when the template is used. Click the "Use" column checkbox in each row you want to use when creating a new option or performing an import from an external source file.

Now that we have a template checked to use (you can select as many templates as will be necessary for your purposes), click the "Tools" menu at the top of the BOM tiled window and then on "New Option".

A new option will appear and the Phase(s) will be added on its own and a blank "Default Phase" with a "Default BOM" will be open and selected so you can begin adding items to the BOM using ProjectMatrix or manually adding them to the BOM from your Master Parts Listing.
