Create a Quick Quote from a Company
The Create a Quick Quote action menu item allows you to create a project, Process the Order & Create PO's all inside of one window. The criteria for using this window to create a project using the Quick Quote window is whether or not this project will have multiple phases to it. In general, this window is used for very simple projects with just a few line items. An example of when you might use a Quick Quote is for Walk-In sales.
The Quick Quote will allow you to create just a quote, create the order entry window while creating the project, book the project as a job, and create purchase orders. Any or all of these functions can be done depending on your needs for the project creation. The Quick Quote window has a lot of the quoting functions that are available from the BOM / Estimating / Quoting window including: Importing an XML or .sif file, using the Project Spec tool, auto part templates and part search.
If the Primary Salesperson (or salespeople) is checked on the company location window, then the salespeople will automatically populate on the Quick Quote form. It is always best to set this information ahead of time so anyone that creates a project from the company location, it will default to the correct salesperson(s).
You also want to be sure to set the Default Terms of Sale and Default Bill To (if applicable) ahead of time so this info also auto-populates for you.
Note: The Bill To and End User defaults to the company you created the Quick Quote from, while the Ship To is blank and will use the default Ship To set by the administrator unless there was a Ship To location setup at the company record level.
