Understanding BOMs

BOMs are , or Bill of Materials, constitute the third level of this the e-manage|ONE data structure and are where parts are attached.  You can tell which level you are associated. In each level of this structure, you can identify which one you're working with by examining the "name" column in each, for example, . For instance, the option level has "Option Name," , the phase level has "Phase Name," and the BOM level has features "BOM Name." . Each Within each Phase, you can have an unlimited number of BOMs that can be named.numerous BOMs, each with its own distinctive name.

Making Global Changes in BOMs

When you change modify the customer discount, margin, markup, or sale price in within a BOM row of in the grid, it will affect every Adjustable item affects all Adjustable items attached to it, adjusting each to match the value you supplyspecified. Editable Cells in BOM Rows

Editable cells in BOM Rows provide flexibility, and while the column names can be customized by users, you can always right-click any column header to identify the original name at the bottom of the resulting pop-up menu. When changing the value of any cell, you should Remember to press the TAB key on your keyboard to commit the value to the database, after altering a cell's value to save it, as there is no separate save button when for editing cells, so this is the only way to save the changed value..   • BOM Name - : This cell sets allows you to set the name of the BOM. When you create a new BOM, the default name is automatically set to "New BOM," but you can change it can be changed to anything something that best better describes the BOM. BOM names do not show up appear on a quote, so ; changing the name is strictly solely for your own organization organizational purposes.

  • New Margin, New Markup, and New Customer Discount - : Depending on your chosen pricing type, the BOM level will allow you to change only permits changes only in the appropriate cell. Lump Sum Sale and Lump Sum Sale + Tax will allow you enable adjustments to change the New Margin, Discount From List will allow you allows changes to change the New Discount, and Markup will allow you permits modifications to change the New Markup column.

  • Pre-Tax Sell- : This changes field alters the overall customer price to the customer of for this BOM (before , considering tax on Lump Sum Sale + Tax, Markup and Discount From List)  (after Tax on Lump Sum Sale)based on your chosen pricing type.

  • Starters- : This cell is used for kits. A kit must already have already been added at the phase level in order for this cell to do anythinghave any effect. Any kit parts on the BOM that are marked as Starters will have the their QTY multiplied by this number, and then further multiplied by the Rows cell.

  • Adders- This : Similar to Starters, this cell is used for kits. A kit must have already been added at the phase level in order for this cell to do anything. Any kit parts on the BOM that are marked as adders Adders will have the their QTY multiplied by this number, and then further multiplied by the Rows cell.

  • Rows - : This cell is also used for kits. A kit must have already been added at the phase level in order for this cell to do anythinghave an effect. Any kit parts on the BOM that are marked as starters Starters or adders Adders will have the their QTY multiplied by this number, and then further multiplied by the Rows cell.

The right click "Right-Click Context Menu " for BOM’sBOMs

When you right-click on a BOM, a pop-up menu will appear with functionality you don't get with the grid. Highlighting multiple BOMs in the grid and right clicking, will let you affect change on all selected BOMs. You will need to click (or highlight) the BOM(s) you want to work with prior to right clicking for some of the functionality in this menu.

  • Add From Search: This option is used to add parts to the selected BOM by searching conducting a search using one or more criteria to find locate the part, and then using the Add QTY cell to add specify the items at the specified QTYquantity of items to be added.

  • Add From Parts Catalog - Used : This function is used to add parts to the selected BOM by using navigating the pre-built Parts Catalog. Navigate You can browse through the catalog folders to find locate the desired parts you want and use the "Add QTY" cell to add parts to specify the quantity to be added to the selected BOM at the specified QTY.

  • Add From Library- Used to : You can add parts to the selected BOM by using utilizing the pre-built library of parts. Navigate through the library folders to find the parts you want need and use the "Add QTY" cell to add parts to specify the quantity to be added to the selected BOM at the Specified QTY.

  • Add From Favorites- Used : This option allows you to add parts to the selected BOM using a grid of your own personal favorites. Any part can be marked as a favorite by checking the "Favorite" checkbox anywhere wherever you see the part. Use You can then use the Add QTY cell to add the part(s) you want to the selected BOM.

  • New Option- Creates : This function creates a new option along with a new phase and a new BOM, with the BOM selected so you can immediately add new parts.

  • New Phase - Creates : Generates a new phase under the option that to which the currently selected phase is a part of, and belongs, along with a new BOM with the BOM selected so you can immediately , allowing you to promptly add new parts.

  • New BOM- : Creates a New new BOM for the currently selected phase and , along with a new BOM with the BOM selected so you can immediately add new selection for adding parts.

  • Copy - copies : Copies the currently selected BOM(s) to paste for pasting into another Phasephase, the same Phase phase, or a phase in another project's BOM window.

  • Paste - pastes : Allows you to paste any copied phases from the windows clipboard to into the currently selected phase's option.

  • Delete Selected - permanently : Permanently deletes the selected phase(s) and any BOM's BOMs that are children of the selected phase(s).

  • Add / Modify BOM Picture- : This function is not used on BOMs since the BOMs are not broken out on the quote.

  • Change Name - Changes : Allows you to change the name of the selected BOM (best to do this right , preferably done directly in the grid).

  • Move To A Different Phase- : This option will move (without copying) the selected BOM to another phase in within the project. This is It provides a dropdown list box of displaying all phases shown , along with their option namenames. Select You can select the phase you want to move the BOM to and then click the Move button.

Hide / Unhide Options on Quote: You can choose to hide option details on a per-quote basis by right-clicking on the line item(s) and selecting “Hide/Unhide Options on Quote.” You can select multiple lines at once or use the checkbox in the grid to choose which items to hide.
