The "Create Serviceable Item" action item allows you to create a serviceable item, which represents an item that has been installed and may be covered by a service agreement. It is also useful for storing information about installed items for service ticket purposes. When creating a serviceable item, it is associated with the currently open company location.
Select the "Create New Serviceable Item" tab on left, as shown below. This will open the new Serviceable Item Window.
...
In the Serviceable Item Window, you can store important information related to the item, including:
Purchase Information: Capture details about the purchase, warranty, and extended warranty (service agreement) pricing information.
On-site Contact Information: Record the relevant contact details for on-site support or servicing.
Serial Number: Enter the serial number of the item.
Manufacturer, Product Type, and Model: Specify the manufacturer, product type, and model of the item.
Please note that fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.
The "Units" text box represents the quantity used for calculating the unit price for service agreements. Service agreements derive their sale price from the sum of all serviceable items they cover. You can use the "Other Charges" text box to include any additional fees, such as a trip charge. The value entered here is not multiplied by the units but added to the total obtained by multiplying the units by the unit price.
After completing the form, click the "Save" button. The serviceable item will be automatically assigned a Service Item number. You can then add other contacts associated with this service item.
...
To add contacts to the serviceable item, ensure that it has been saved and assigned an ID number (as mentioned above). Once saved, you can easily drag and drop contacts from sources like Search e-manage, Recent Records, Favorites, or any other grid containing contacts into the contact grid. Alternatively, you can use the "Add Quick Contact" button on the Contacts tab to search for existing contacts or add new ones using the Quick Contact Window.
...
You can search for existing contacts by typing their first and last names in the respective text boxes of the "Add a Quick Contact" window. This will display a list of matching contacts that you can select and drag to the Service Agreement Contacts grid on the Service Agreements Window.
If you haven't initiated this serviceable item from a service agreement, you have the option to create a new service agreement to associate with this serviceable item. Simply click the "Create Svc Agreement" button on the form.
We recommend creating serviceable items and associating them with service agreements upon completing the installation of each item. If you offer a one-year warranty (or if the manufacturer does), you can set the Agreement Start Date as the installation date and choose a length of one year. This allows you to charge the manufacturer the entire cost of servicing the item.
