Sometime it is necessary to create a new item to use in your BOM that does not come from an import and therefore not added to your master part listing automatically. This may include parts like "Installation", "Design Fees", "Overhead", etc. Please note that you should not add a new part with the same part number twice. Because when you add a part to a BOM you can change the cost, list, price each and customer price, one part will suffice for each of these types of items.
Inside of the BOM / Estimating / Quoting tiled window's toolbar, click the “Tools” > "New Part" button.
Select New at the bottom.
When you type in a part number, the Internal Part Number box will fill out with the same text. Internal part number is what shows to your customer, part number is what is used on the purchase order. This can be useful when you want to keep people from shopping by part number from other companies.
Fill out the Description for the part (note that you can roll up parts into a phase using the e-manage 7 hybrid quote function that will "hide" parts from your customer by using the phase name as the part number and the phase description as the part description and show one customer price for all items in the phase).
Choose the Vendor from the Vendor drop down list box.
Choose a Product Type from the Product Type drop down list box.
Choose a Parts Category from the Parts Category drop down list box.
You can enter a cost if there is a minimum cost to the part, enter a list price if there is a minimum list price (note that e-manage calculates your cost based on a discount from the list price, so you may need to fill out the list price first, then the cost to get the MFG Discount). Enter a customer price, or profit margin or markup to get to the customer price.
If this is an inventoried item, you will want to set the Purchase Unit of Measure, the UOM Convert (e.g. 8 units in 1 inventoried box would be UOM Convert of 8), UOM Price (how much it costs you to order the inventory unit box), and check the Inventory Item checkbox. If this item will be used in kits, choose whether it is a starter, adder, or both. You can, but are not required to, set the Manhours it takes to install one of these items. You can, but are not required to, set the Cubes (the cubes on a truck) that this item will take up. You can set a small and large picture for parts by clicking the corresponding "Browse" button. There is no need to click the apply button for the image while adding a new part, but if you are editing an existing part you will need to press it. The images are used when you add the item to a BOM and are used on each line item on a quote.
Also, if you are taking advantage of the e-manage Customer Web Portal, these pictures are used in the shopping cart section of the portal (you will also need to check the "Sell Via My Web Portal" checkbox).
Click the "Save" button. If you want to add another part at this time, you can click the "New" button and start a new part.
