WIP (Work in Process) Feature

WIP (Work in Process) Feature

e-manage|ONE has a feature that automates the movement of account postings from WIP to COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) so manual journal entries are no longer required! This accounting practice is used when you want to recognize your costs at the same time as your revenue.

Setup ā€œWork in Processā€ Feature in e-manage|ONE

  1. Setup WIP Account(s) (other current asset) in your QuickBooks Chart of Accounts. For every COGS account you would use in e-manageONE you would want to have an associated WIP account.

  2. Import Chart of Accounts into e-manage|ONE from the QuickBooks Integration Application (see here for additional information).

  3. Mark account(s) in Chart of Accounts in e-manage as ā€œUse in e-manageā€, ā€œReceivable Accountā€ & ā€œPayable Accountā€ (see here for additional information).

  4. Now you will need to assign the COGS Offset Account to each WIP account in the Chart of Accounts within e-manage.

  5. Open the e-manageONE Administrator Application > In the Corporate Division Configuration window select the Drop-Down List Setup tab > Scroll down to select ā€œProduct Typesā€ on the left-hand panel. Product Types determine which GL Account to hit at the time of vendor bills and/or customer invoices.

  6. Assign the WIP Account to each Product Type.

Using the WIP Functionality in e-manageONE

At the time of entering a Vendor Bill e-manage will look to the Customer Invoice module to determine if there has been a FINAL customer invoice applied.

If there is NOT a FINAL Customer Invoice applied e-manage will post to the appropriate WIP accounts.

If there IS a Final Customer Invoice applied e-manage will post to the appropriate COGS accounts.

When entering the FINAL Customer Invoice e-manage will determine if there have been any postings to the WIP account(s) and if so, e-manage will convert or move all WIP to COGS automatically.
