Working with Column Headers in a Grid
When right clicking on a Column Header in a Grid you have many customization options in which we will explore below:
**Customizing is just the first step, you must save the grid layout for your entire company in order for all users to see any of the changes you put in place.
Column Names
Every Column Header in e-manage ONE Grids can be renamed to match what your company's nomenclature.
To rename a column simply right click on the column header (DO NOT LEFT CLICK AS THIS WILL SORT THE COLUMN).
The column configuration context menu will pop-up and the first item in the pop-up menu will be where you can see and rename the column header by typing in the box. At the bottom of the menu is a text box with the database field name (this will never change, unless it is changed in the database by Marketplace Software). As you type the new name of the column, you will see the column header text changing.
Scroll Tips
The Use For Scroll Tips menu item causes the grid to show a tool tip of the column data if you click the scroll bar and hold it and move up or down the grid.
Preview Row
The Is Preview Row Column menu item is like the Microsoft Outlook e-mail preview. When you select this for a column, the text shows under each row and is immune from the scrolling left and right.
Data Type / Formatting
The Data Type / Formatting menu item pops-out a submenu of ways that you can format the data in a column, they are:
Numeric: You can format as currency 2 decimals or 3, a decimal with up to 4 decimal places, percentage or standard whole number
Date / Time: Short date (1/1/2014), Long Date (January 1, 2014), Date and Time (1/1/2014 11:15 PM), Time Only (11:15 PM)
Text Format: If you accidently set text to another format and need to change it back to straight text
Column Alignment: Left, Right, Center, Top, Bottom, Middle
Display Style: Image with Shadow, Checkbox (use this when a zero or one is the column data and you want to see the value as a checkbox
Disable / Preview
Disable Preview Row takes away the preview row setting (see above).
Allow Column Freezing
The Allow Column Freezing menu item allows you to pin columns to the left or right side of the grid so that when you scroll, only the un-pinned columns move, while the pinned columns are stationary (activates the push pin icon for you to select a column to freeze).
Hide Column
The Hide Column menu item hides the column (you can make it visible again by using the Field Chooser)
Rearranging Grid Columns
You can also change where the columns are in the grid by dragging a column from one position to another. You must make sure to drag the column header until you see the two arrows appear where you want the column to be.
