Configuring Editable Fields
The Editable Fields functionality of e-manage ONE allows users to make any column of data in any grid, editable to users from within the grid.
You may need to call into our Support line (or send an e-mail to support@emanageone.com) to find out what table a column of data belongs to in order to set up the editable field properly. We welcome your phone calls and e-mails for help in implementing this functionality.
To begin, go to the grid that you want to configure an editable field in and click the round red button. The button will turn green and the Grid Functions Toolbar will appear under the now green button. Click the Grid Functions Menu, then click the "Configure Editable Fields" menu item.
You will see a listing of any already configured editable fields in the top grid in the window.
When you are in a grid with multiple levels (like the BOM window or Current Opportunities) you can choose a Grid Band. In most grids there will only be one choice and it will be pre-selected when the window opens.
Choose the column you want to be editable from the Editable Field drop down list box. Choose the Database Table that the column belongs to (you may need to call or e-mail support to get this information). Every table in the database will be listed here. The identity column will automatically fill itself out when you choose the database table.
If you do not want every user to be able to edit the column data, then choose an application right from the Application Right drop-down list box.
While setting up editable fields, you can choose to use a drop-down list (either built in or a Custom Drop-Down List ) and assign the ability to edit the field to an application right (either built in or a Custom Application Right ). If you would like to give your users a drop-down list box of choices for the value of the column data, choose a drop-down list from the drop-down list box.
Click the Save button and the newly created editable field definition will appear in the grid at the top of the window.
To delete an editable field, double click on the editable field definition in the grid at the top of the window and click the Delete button.
