Adding Items to a BOM Manually: Three Methods

In e-manage|ONE, you have three manual methods to add items to a Bill of Materials (BOM), without the need for importing from an external source. These methods offer flexibility and convenience for creating your project's BOM.

Method 1: Right-Click and Use the "Add From" Menu

This method allows you to right-click on a BOM and choose from various "Add From" options to add items:

  • Add From Search: Search for parts by specifying criteria and use the "Add QTY" cell to add items at your desired quantity.

  • Add From Parts Catalog: Access the pre-built Parts Catalog, navigate through catalog folders, and add parts to your selected BOM by specifying the quantity.

  • Add From Library: Utilize the pre-built library of parts, explore library folders to find the parts you need, and add them to your selected BOM with specified quantities.

  • Add From Favorites: Create a grid of personal favorites by marking parts as favorites with the "Favorite" checkbox. You can then use the "Add QTY" cell to add your preferred parts to the selected BOM.

Method 2: Use the "Add Parts" Panel Below the Grid

This method involves clicking on the BOM and using the "Add Parts" panel located just below the grid, where your options and phases are listed. Follow these steps:

  1. Enter the quantity (QTY) of the item you want to add to your BOM.

  2. Press the ENTER key on your keyboard, and your cursor will automatically move to the Criteria drop-down list box.

  3. In the Criteria box, type at least three characters of the part number. As you type, a list of matching parts will appear.

  4. Select the correct part from the list by clicking on it or navigating with your keyboard.

  5. Press the ENTER key again to add the selected part to your BOM.

  6. Your focus will return to the QTY text box, where you can specify a new quantity (or not) and search for another part if needed.

You can tailor your part search by adjusting the "Choose From" drop-down list box, allowing you to filter your search among options like "All Parts," "Library," "Catalog," and "Favorites." Additionally, you can fine-tune your search by selecting different criteria in the "Search By" drop-down list box.

Method 3: Use the "Project Spec" Button

When properly configured, the "Project Spec" button becomes available when you highlight a BOM. This button provides a quick shortcut to the Project Spec catalog, allowing you to select your product and specify finishes without navigating through the Design team. This feature is particularly useful for Salespeople and other team members who need to rapidly add products to quote customers.
