❓ Cloud Migration & Data Management FAQ
Q: Do we maintain control of our data?
A: Yes—you retain full ownership of your data. We can provide your SQL database credentials upon request.
Q: Can we customize how our database is backed up?
A: We utilize Azure’s Point-in-Time Backup with a 7-day retention period. Long-term recovery options are available upon request. Backup customization beyond this is limited.
Q: What is your current data retention policy?
A: We do not delete any data as part of our current policy.
Q: How is our data protected beyond basic firewall security?
A: We follow the CIA triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability):
Confidentiality: Data is encrypted at rest using Microsoft Azure’s native encryption.
Integrity: Microsoft Defender for Cloud monitors for suspicious activity and vulnerabilities.
Availability: While we do not have internal uptime monitoring, our hosted environments have experienced zero outages to date.
Q: What Microsoft Azure tools are used to protect our data?
A: We use Microsoft Defender and Azure Firewall, both configured according to Microsoft’s security best practices. Defender performs weekly system scans and configuration checks.
Q: What does the Service Level Agreement (SLA) cover?
A: We guarantee 99% uptime for your database, subject to Microsoft Azure’s infrastructure availability.
Q: If we decide to leave e-manage|ONE, can we take our data with us?
A: Absolutely. We’ll provide you with a full SQL backup so you can transition to another solution or return to an On-Premise setup without data loss.
Q: What is the pricing structure compared to On-Prem?
A: Please contact us at sales@emanageone.com for up-to-date pricing details and a full comparison to your current On-Prem setup.
Q: What are the key benefits of moving to the Cloud?
✅ Managed Database & Backups
Eliminates the need for internal IT resources to maintain SQL Server, hardware, or backups.
📱 Access to Mobile Apps
Support remote work with our full suite of mobile tools.
🧾 Consolidated Licensing
Each user has their own login—no need for concurrent license management.
🔐 Enterprise Security
Take advantage of Microsoft Azure's secure cloud infrastructure.
Q: How do we prepare for the cloud migration?
Before the migration, we’ll work with your IT team to:
Ensure SQL Access: We require SQL-level access to your current database.
Grant Control Server Permissions: Our SQL user must be granted “Control Server” permissions to complete the migration successfully. We can provide the SQL username if needed.
Plan for Migration Timing:
If your database is under 100GB, we can often migrate overnight.
If your database exceeds 100GB, a weekend migration is required.
Confirm License Count: Cloud licensing is per user. We’ll need your signed quote to finalize licensing and billing adjustments.
Q: What happens during the migration?
The migration is typically scheduled for a Friday after business hours to avoid downtime.
A test migration may be performed in advance to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Once complete, users will receive a new login profile key to use Monday morning.
Migration includes validating schema integrity and fixing any data-related issues before final cutover.
Q: Will our QuickBooks integration still work after migrating to the cloud?
A: Yes! Both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online are compatible with our cloud environment.
If you're using QuickBooks Desktop, the file path remains the same—no changes needed.
If you're switching to QuickBooks Online, follow our step-by-step setup guide here:

Our support team will work with you to verify and resolve any connection issues quickly.
Q: How far in advance should we schedule our migration?
A: Migration timing depends on availability and data size. Typically, we recommend scheduling 1–2 weeks in advance to reserve a weekend slot for our team.
